Water Efficient Tips

Many people are steering away from installing lawns.  Why?

Well, as most of you probably have figured out, grass needs to be watered quite often. Grass is very needy and requires constant attention. You go out of town for a week, come back and your lawn is dead…

In order to keep your lawn thriving and green, you’ll need a plethora of water. The installation of water meters in the Sacramento area is causing a great deal of landscape anxiety. Water meters aren’t necessarily a bad thing; however, if you have a large area to water, you’ll start to notice the cost increase as you tend your dependent lawn.

If you are cost conscious and interested in conserving water, a giant lawn might not be the best idea. Don’t fret; it isn’t that big of a deal.  You can still have a gorgeous space that you’ll love, whether that means a smaller lawn or no lawn at all. There are plenty of lawn alternatives that Capital Landscape offers:

  • Artificial Turf
  • Mulches
  • Rocks

Not only are these alternatives beautiful, they don’t limit your options when it comes to saving water.

If you really love your lush lawn and you’d rather cut the water usage elsewhere, planting native plants will reduce the amount of water you’ll use. Native plants have adapted to the climate and therefore don’t require much more water than the average rainfall brings.

If you love exotic plants, group them all together to avoid excessively watering  rest of your yard.

If you’re thinking, “How am I supposed to know which plants are native and require minimal watering?” that’s where we come in.
